The Mother of God Catholic Church Education Committee has teamed up with John G. Carlise Elementary School for a community garden project. There are three 4' x 4' raised beds planted with lettuce, beans, tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumber and berries. Mother of God parishioners, Anita Heidrich and Ed Knochelmann were responsible for heading this up. It is an excellent educational opportunity for students to learn about where their food comes from and how it is grown.
They are in need of volunteers to help water and care for the garden. Tentative times are Monday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. If interested, please contact Anita Heidrich at anitaheid@fuse.net or 859.331.1023.
