URSULINES RECEIVE SIERRA CLUB AWARD
MAPLE MOUNT, KY - Aloma Dew presents Sister Michele Morek, Congregational Leader of the Ursuline Sisters, and
Sister Amelia Stenger, Director of Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center,
with an award from the Cumberland Chapter of the Sierra Club for the Environmental
programs done at the Center.
"Everything in nature has a purpose. Americans are very blessed and yet we are so wasteful," says Sr. Stenger. "This overconsumption of resources lead to a great deal of environmental degradation. We want to inspire values of simplicity, gratitude and care for the land."

The
Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center has hosted many groups already and they are working on a near zero energy demonstration building they will call the Casa del Sol Environmental Education Center.
The sisters were a big part of the
GREENing Western Kentucky Expo held in July 2008. GREENing stands for "Getting Renewable Energy Education Now."
Aloma Dew shares the document "Faith in Action" published by the Sierra Club. The Center represents the
Commonwealth of Kentucky in the document. For more information check their
