Jeff Street installing solar panels

The people of Jeff Street Baptist Community at Liberty are installing solar panels at their church at 800 East Liberty Street, Louisville.  Experts from Earthwell Energy Management, Inc. are volunteering their time in the installation of the panels that began on May 4. The Project was made possible with a donation from ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers) to purchase the panels and installation donated by Earthwell Energy Management, Inc. ASHRAE is paying for the materials as a part of their 2009 sustainable footprint project. They hope to help offset their environmental impact caused by having their conference in Louisville in June. Ken Peet, chair of the Sustainability Subcommittee and President of local LSE Engineering, Inc. says with the help of Kentucky Interfaith Power & Light, "we selected the church due to its existing efforts to save energy."

Blessing of the Bikes at Jeff Street Baptist Church

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Earth Day 2007) - For our first Blessing of the Bikes, I reckon we had two dozen or so cyclists taking part. Probably nearly half of the people to show up! The day concluded with a bike ride through downtown Louisville to the river.

Earth Day Bikes In a Row

This year's Earth Day service had the added bonus of a Blessing of the Bicycles (and bicyclists) ceremony, organized by our own Mike Jupin and featuring a prayer from our own David Dillard.
