KIPL Quarterly Gatherings

This is an opportunity to share what your community is doing, to find out what others have done and to share successes as well as obstacles you have encountered in the quest to care for God's creation. Our next Gatherings are in:
Lexington
Owensboro
Louisville
Covington

Bluegrass Region
The next Lexington Gathering scheduled for Sunday, August 1 from 1-3pm at Twin Pines Christian Church
1139 Tanbark Road. The speaker will be Rev. Randy Wilson who will have just returned from a Witness for Peace trip to Columbia, South America where he will have toured coal mining communities there. Randy, a minister in the Disciples of Christ Church, is a fifth generation eastern Kentuckian who has been a member of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth for the past 25 years working on efforts for justice for the land and the people in the coalfields. He represented the mountains in the Smithsonian's Folklife Festival on the National Mall and at the United Nation's conference on energy and sustainable development. Currently, he is the folk arts director at the Hindman Settlement School. He has done dances, stories, and songs with folks in the mountains for the past 25 years. Last year, Rev. Wilson ran for the local RECC board. It is the beginning of a campaign that continues to raise awareness of our sources of energy and alternatives for the future. The event and refreshments are free, but please click here to register so that we know you are coming.
