Center for Interfaith Relations becoming greener.
The Center for Interfaith Relations has for years helped to advance the movement to Care for God's creation through the Festival of Faiths. At the 2007 festival they brought Rev. Fletcher Harper of Green Faith to talk to us about the Birthing of Green Faith and inspire us as a community to continue our quest to protect creation.
This year's Festival of Faiths will be November 15-19 and will include Mary Evelyn Tucker, teacher, author and co-founder and co-director of the Forum on Religion and Ecology at Yale.
The Center reports that "We already recycle paper and other materials, but Mark Steiner is leading CIR's new policy of modeling the essential value of sustainability in our office and in how we host our programs. For example, we are now using recycled paper in our copiers and printers, have transitioned most light bulbs to compact flourescents, drastically cut use of disposables, increased recycling and will be employing various other methods to cut down on energy use and resource consumption as we move forward. Green awareness will be guiding all of our decisions from where to meet and choices of caterers to when and how to print our inner office and public materials."
