
Louisville, KY - January 23, 2011 - Bardstown Road Presbyterian was named an "
Earth Care Congregation" by the Presbyterian Church USA Environmental Ministries. See the

Specifically the church completed a survey that offered "points" for activities in four areas--worship, facilities, education, and outreach. Getting enough points in each area allowed them to qualify for the award.
In
worship they did things like using earth care themes in their music, sermons, and mission moments.
In
facilities, they
updated their boiler and air conditioning systems installed storm windows used reusable silverware and dishes recycled as much as possible.
They also are working with MSD to address issues of runoff from their property.
Educationsteps meant including earth care themes in their Sunday School classes and youth group meetings.
Outreach steps were satisfied by hosting the Bardstown Road Farmers' Market in the church parking lot.
