Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light?s Where Spirit Meets Action: Working Together In Response to Climate Change events are this month!
Both programs promise to be exciting evenings of inspiration, interchange, commitment and action.

In addition to Julia Butterfly Hill, Louisville?s October 24th program will feature contributions from social change agent and musician Harry Pickens as well as musical contributions from the amazing Troubadours of Divine Bliss (hosts of the upcoming Mighty Kindness Harvest Hootenanny).

"Butterfly" Documentary Screening

The Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church Green Sanctuary Committee is hosting a screening of Doug Wolen?s documentary chronicling Julia Butterfly Hill?s two-year tree-sit. This critically acclaimed film was featured on PBS? Point of View in an edited form. See the full film and join in a post-screening discussion!



KIPL and EarthSave Louisville

Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light will be providing the guest presentation at EarthSave?s October 8th gathering at United Crescent Hill Ministries Community Center(150 State Street just off Frankfort Avenue). It is open to the public.

The program begins at 6:00 pm with a plant-based pitch-in dinner and is followed at 7:00 pm with the KIPL presentation focusing on our upcoming events with Julia Butterfly Hill (author of The Legacy of Luna: The Story of a Tree, a Woman and the Struggle to Save the Redwoods) and her connections with EarthSave?s mission. In addition, Mark will share the story of his 2006 encounter with Julia.

Dr. Sleeth Speaking in Frankfort, KY

On Sunday, October 16 Dr. Matthew Sleeth of Blessed Earth will be preaching all three Sunday sermons at 8:30, 9:00, and 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Frankfort. His topic will come from his acclaimed book "Serving God, Saving the Planet." In addition, there will be a meet and greet opportunity with refreshments and Q&A from 10:00 ? 10:30.

Moving Planet - Moving Louisville Moving Beyond Fossil Fuel

Organizers for the Louisville version of the international Moving Planet event on September 24 are seeking representatives from area faith communities to participate in their celebration and rally from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm at Jefferson Square Park.

Faith communities are encouraged to carry faith-based and congregational banners as they join other community members proceeding to the rally utilizing low-carbon modes of travel such as walking, biking, skating or riding the bus.
