Thanks to all the wonderful people

Julia Butterfly Hill such a success. |
|
We are deeply appreciative of the presenters: Julia Butterfly Hill, Brian and Jes Deis (First Unitarian Church), Harry Pickens, Nancy Sleeth (Blessed Earth), and Patrick Johnson (UK Green Thumb) as well as our musical guests Andrea Davidson, Roberta Burnes and the Troubadours of Divine Bliss.

Much thanks and praises to all the awesome volunteers who made things run so smoothly. They are way too many to name!

Also thanks and praises to our promotional partners particularly our host organizations Hendrika Pauley and the Social Justice and Environmental Committee of Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington along with, in Louisville, Kate Bulinski and Rob Kingsolver and the Bellarmine University Center for Regional Environmental Studies.

Greening West Louisville Church Awarded Grant
for Energy Improvements
Congratulations to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church! In 2010 eleven churches participating in the Greening West Louisville Program applied for the federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). Collectively, over $300,000 dollars was requested for energy conserving projects and improvements.
St. Martin de Porres is the first church of the GWL Program to be awarded from the EECB Grant. $12,000 has been given to the congregation to install energy efficient lighting and cellulose insulation in their 44,000 square foot campus. These energy improvements will greatly reduce the church?s carbon foot print and are expected to lower their annual energy bills by thousands of dollars.
We look forward to sharing more success stories from the EECB Grants, and their role in creation care, as they are awarded!
