A Gathering for the River-Clean Water for All God's Children
Join us on at 7 pm on Tuesday August 31, for a faith and community meeting on water and the coal ash problem. Location: Shively Community Center 1902 Park Road, Louisville. There will be a panel of faith leaders, stories from residents, call to action, details on coal ash hearing in September. Refreshments will be served. Open to the entire community. Come learn more about what we can do to protect clean water for our community. Email us for or more information.
A Day Conference on Thomas Merton and Ecology
Saturday, October 16th Hilary's at Bellarmine University will hold a day conference entitled "Letters to a Green Liberal: Thomas Merton's Call to Ecological Responsibility" from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more information.
Environmental Justice Tour
Kentucky IPL and The Passionist Earth & Spirit Center present a tour of west Louisville contaminated sites and information about the threats they pose to the community. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 8:30 am - 12:30 pm beginning at the Earth & Spirit Center. Suggested donation of $15 includes continental breakfast. Email earthandspirit@passionist.org to reserve your place on the bus. The tour will include the coal ash landfill at the LG&E Cane Run Road power plant that overlooks the pauper's cemetery.
2010 Green Spark Awards
Project Warm is having its 2010 Green Spark Awards on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 11:30am at the Henry Clay Building, Louisville. The awards honor members of our community who have made a real difference in reducing energy use through innovation, community service, and public education. Click here for more information.
Climate Change Sermon Contest
You are invited to submit the sermon or address from your UN Sunday service for the 2011 Dana Greeley Award. Consisting of a $1,000 honorarium and the opportunity to deliver the winning address at General Assembly 2011, the award honors the memory of the Rev. Dana McLean Greeley, first president of the Unitarian Universalist Association and a strong supporter of the United Nations. Sermons highlighting the work of the United Nations and the UU-UNO will be given priority consideration for this award. Send submissions by February 1, 2011 to greeleysermon@uu-uno.org

Hiring Paid Intern
Kentucky IPL is seeking a paid intern to assist with implementation of our Greening West Louisville program. This position will allow for a great deal of creativity and will report directly to the Executive Director. Based on interests and experience, this could include opportunities to work directly with our members, coordinate energy audits, update website and Facebook group. Work hours are flexible and could be coordinated around school/work obligations. We are looking for a creative individual interested in using his/her talents to support the mission of Kentucky IPL. Lent 4.5-Christian Simplicity

The Passionist Earth & Spirit Center is offering the program, Lent 4.5-Christian Simplicity. It is a more meaningful way to experience Lent than simply giving up chocolate. This 7-week program informs and inspires Christian communities on how to use prayer, fasting, and almsgiving to care for God's creation.
