2017 HIA Banner

Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light will once again be recognizing faith communities in Kentucky that have carried out great creation care initiatives over the past year by hosting the 2017 Hope in Action Awards Dinner.  This year’s event also marks an important milestone as Kentucky IPL’s ten year anniversary.

The theme for 2017 is “Lighting the way one faith community at a time” and it reflects the work that Kentucky IPL has been engaged in for over a decade.  We would like to invite you to join us for this important event and see for yourself how the creation care movement has grown and continues to be a driving force towards a more sustainable future for Kentucky.

The faith communities being recognized with a Hope in Action Award for 2017 are:

  • The Catholic Action Center
  • Portland Avenue Presbyterian Church
  • Crescent Hill United Methodist Church

Every year the Hope in Action Awards Dinner brings together faith communities from several faith traditions in a spirit of caring for creation.  Attendees for this year will hear from faith leaders from the three Abrahamic religions as they address how their traditions are moving creation care forward in the midst of an uncertain future while providing a message of hope that people of faith can answer the call to care for God’s creation.

In addition to exploring the intersection between faith and creation the event will also feature uplifting and heartfelt music from Kentucky Homefront host and local musical legend John Gage.  As always the program includes a delicious meal prepared by member congregations and supporters of Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light.
